From their wardrobe, to their sense of adventure and the ideas they contributed to the session, I was in heaven. Touring the part of the city they call home, Northern Liberties, and finding endless opportunities to take advantage of amazing light and atmosphere was a breeze. Especially with these two leading the way! We found nooks and corners just about everywhere we turned and as soon as we nestled into each spot, Stacey and Micah relaxed into some honest, tender poses that showed their love story has been a long and treasured journey. I loved seeing them come alive with each other as we traveled around by foot. Finally, in a moment of photographer’s ecstasy, Micah took us to the Crane Building. Oh. Em. Gee. With incredible directional light coming in the windows of the old warehouse-converted-studio building I was beside myself. Then add the rooftop view – forget it. You could’ve stuck a fork in me, I was DONE. So a huge thanks (and congrats!) to Stacey and Micah on a great session! I can’t wait for this coming May in Bartram’s Garden when you two say “I do!

BECKY & LOU - ENGAGED :: MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/becky-lou---engaged-maryland-wedding-photography

Becky and Lou met me in Elkton, Maryland for their engagement session this fall on a gorgeous and sunny afternoon. Equally as adventurous as they were affectionate, they took my word when I said – “Let’s just get in the car and follow the light!”. And so we did. With the golden September sun reflecting amazing light off the soybean fields, I was truly in heaven. We roamed around a stopped at every point of inspiration. Becky and Lou had absolutely no problem showing me how in love they were and didn’t even need time to warm up in front of the camera – their love and chemistry between one another was obvious from the first click. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Frank, the adorable little furry friend they just couldn’t imagine their session without! Frank was patient, charming and highly photogenic. I was thrilled they brought him along! Becky and Lou are getting married at Sweetwater Farms  Bed and Breakfast – owned by the late Princess Grace of Monaco’s nephew – and one of my favorite places to photograph! After seeing how genuine and warm their love is, I am quite impatient for their big day at that beautiful estate.

COLLEEN & DAN - ENGAGED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/colleen-dan---engaged-philadelphia-wedding-photography

After a few rescheduled sessions (one due to weather and one due to *ouch* Dan’s sprained ankle) I finally met Colleen & Dan at the Philadelphia Art Musuem on what was arguably the nicest day we’d had to date this year. We all agreed it was worth the wait! The late afternoon sun was warm and golden, a perfect breeze blew (lifting Colleen’s fabulous hair in almost every shot on cue) across the city and it couldn’t have been more ideal a day to settle in for a fun and casual session together. Instantly, I knew I would love Colleen & Dan because they were totally down to Earth and spent nearly the entire session laughing. From the shimmering fountain, to the azalea garden to the gazebo to the skyline – we were all enchanted by the beauty of the afternoon. We joked, strolled, giggled and followed the light – and in the end – succeeded in capturing these super cool lovebirds in a part of town I simply can never grow tired of.

Congrats to Colleen & Dan – a couple I am truly excited to be capturing on their wedding day this fall!!

MEGHAN & TJ - ENGAGED :: DELAWARE REHOBOTH BEACH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/meghan-tj---engaged-delaware-rehoboth-beach-wedding-photography

If there’s one thing I wish I had control over, it’s the weather. Because just as there are times when Mother Nature will pleasantly surprise you with a ray of light on a day with a cloudy forecast, she will also suddenly send clouds and wind on a day that has been consistently sunny until the time of your session. This is exactly what happened on the day I met with Meghan and TJ – the skies were blue and the air was warm – until moments before our session began which was quite unfortunate since they had driven all the way from Philadelphia for our “sunny day” on the beach. But, just like two people truly in love, the weather made no difference to them. If anything, it seemed the perfect excuse to cuddle in closer and keep each other warm. All I can say is that they were incredibly enthusiastic despite the looming clouds and the winds whipping off the ocean. We made the absolute best of our afternoon – from kite flying, to sand snuggling to bird dodging – and even snuck into Jam, one of my favorite little spots in town, to warm up with a little cocktail and prepare for the second half of the session that promised to deliver more bone-chilling shivers. I can’t thank these two enough for being so fun-spirited and such good sports about the hand that nature dealt us – and for being notably adorable the. entire. time.

CAROLYN & JUSTIN - ENGAGED :: DELAWARE REHOBOTH BEACH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/carolyn-justin---engaged-delaware-rehoboth-beach-wedding-photography

When I first met Carolyn and Justin I was amazed by how quickly I fell in “smit” with them. They are, in general, an incredibly lovable couple. And I’m not just talking about how much they love each other – although that is pretty obvious to anyone who spends 5 minutes with them. For instance, when Justin proposed, he literally wrote a book about their love – and the story of their past 10 years together. I read it and cried. And Carolyn? She has been known to effortlessly lead lost pets back to their owners – and I’m truly convinced of this – by simply emanating the unbelievable kindness that just pours out of her. Animals flock to her – like Snow White. They are truly like a fairytale and I am super lucky to be able to capture them on their wedding day. Also lucky was I that they wanted to do their engagement session at the beach on the most perfect of days and we traveled from Rehoboth to Lewes following the sun until it set – and I continued to be enchanted by how in love they are. Playful, sweet, tender and sincere – these two are destined for happily ever after – without one single doubt.

Congrats to Carolyn & Justin!

JOAN & BRAD - MARRIED :: PHILDELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/joan-brad---engaged-dc-maryland-wedding-photography You may remember Joan & Brad from their engagement session post where I referred to them as “badass”. Which they most certainly were. Dressed to the nines in their current home of DC, they literally rocked the nation’s capital. And their wedding was no different. Taking their hometown city of Philadelphia by storm, Joan & Brad planned a perfect Old City wedding that had plenty of uptown style. Starting and finishing at the Sheraton Society Hill – the timeline took us throughout the most charming spots in my favorite part of the city, Society Hill, including their ceremony in Philadelphia’s oldest and most historical church, Old St. Joseph’s National Shrine. It was a stylish, fabulous and fun day with this dynamic couple and I’m so honored to have been the one to capture their wedding!

Congrats to Joan & Brad!

NYIA & RYAN - SHE SAID YES! :: A DC PROPOSAL https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/nyia-ryan---she-said-yes-a-dc-proposal I was pretty excited when Ryan called me to tell me about his plan to surprise Nyia with his marriage proposal. Not only was it a romantic story, it was also a highly coordinated effort that involved months of planning – and the cooperation of family and friends. I’m always remarkably impressed when brides call me to book their weddings and tell me a story of how their groom-to-be managed to catch them off-guard, but I’ve never actually witnessed this kind of success first-hand until now. I must say, I was pretty darn blown away.

Immediately following a grueling 8 hour drive from Myrtle Beach, Ryan rushed to arrive, with Nyia in tow,  to attend a “work-related picnic” at Rock Creek Park. In the POURING RAIN. How he managed to convince her that the picnic was still on (as I stood knee deep in trail mud and panicked awaiting their arrival text with intermittent 1-bar cell reception) is beyond me. That is probably the real miracle that occurred this grey and misty morning. But, regardless of the rain that fell, he managed to pull off his highly-anticipated plan without a hitch. Nyia was SHOCKED when he fell to his knee. And it was awesome to watch her reaction – she was literally bursting with happiness.

And it didn’t end there. With Nyia completely preoccupied with her engagement status and new bling, they retreated back to finally rest after their long drive to prepare for another “work related function” later that evening. The real surprise that awaited was a restaurant full of Nyia’s family and friends from across the country and every stage of her life, ready to greet them with heartfelt congrats on their new journey. That Ryan was able to completely blindside Nyia twice in one day was beyond impressive.

The engagement party took place at one of coolest spots I’ve had the pleasure to visit in downtown DC, Eatonville. The atmosphere, the decor, the vibe – a truly hip location nestled in the Northwest. But outside of it’s inherent coolness, Eatonville is also the spot where Ryan first became smitten with Nyia and where she worked while attending grad school in the area – a location that was brimming with sentimental value for them both.

All I can say is that this entire event blew me away. I’m overwhelmed with excitement for the newly engaged couple and equally as impressed with Ryan’s amazingly successful plan. Many happy wishes for Ryan & Nyia as they make their journey toward their wedding day!

LATI & TROY - ENGAGED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/lati-troy---engaged-philadelphia-wedding-photography

Whenever a client comes to me with an idea for their session I get totally giddy. I love it when a couple wants to really open up and share a part of their relationship with me – and make the session about more than just the pictures. Every now and then it happens – and I find those are the sessions I enjoy shooting most. In this case, LaTi & Troy are super foodies – and they spend a lot of their time bonding over great food and wine. So initially they wanted a styled engagement in the park, surrounding a picnic concept, and I really loved this idea. Until every time we booked our session date, IT RAINED.

So finally, giving in to the universe, we decided to change gears and take the session to their favorite date spot. This way, they would be able to capture this aspect of their love that they really treasure and mother nature wouldn’t have a say. And wouldn’t you know it? The forecast all day long was for thunderstorms. But we certainly didn’t care as the wine and antipasto flowed and the romantic atmosphere of Garces Trading Company kept us dry and more than content. They got to do exactly what they love to do – eat, drink, be merry & in love. And then, a funny thing happened. The sun came out – brilliant and bright for a whopping 15 minutes and we raced for it. I suppose it goes to show that if you leave your trust in the universe,  you may get a little reward once in a while.

Finishing up the session at the wine cave, they chose a vintage to take home for the evening and we parted ways – LaTi and Troy’s hearts and bellies full and a photographer brimming with happiness over being invited to join them on a very special date and excited to rush home and pour over such a unique collection of images!

Thanks to LaTi & Troy for having a great spot in mind and for wanting to bring such a fun side of their life together to our session!

AMY & JOSH - ENGAGED :: DELAWARE REHOBOTH LEWES WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/amy-josh---engaged-delaware-rehoboth-lewes-wedding-photography

Amy and Josh live at the beach – and love it. Who can blame them? Especially in the charming town of Lewes, DE – life on this side of the tracks is second to none. So I wasn’t surprised when they wanted to do their engagement session starting in town and finishing up at sunset at the State Park Beaches. For more reasons than one, this place is immeasurably special to these two. The story I will enjoy sharing now is about that watch tower you’ll see in this post. At the top of that tower is where Amy stood overlooking a message constructed below of dried pine and beachwood that read “Will you marry me?”. Um, Josh definitely gets an A+ in Romance 101.

But the best part about our session (if you forget for a second about the perfect weather we got) was how at home they both were with the town – and each other. All part of the reason I am so looking forward to their Kentucky Derby Themed wedding (did you notice the hat?)  right here in Lewes, next May.

Congrats to Amy & Josh!

LINDSAY & CHRIS - ENGAGED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/lindsay-chris---engaged-philadelphia-wedding-photography

I met Lindsay and Chris at a little remote part of Fairmount Park that I knew would be perfect in the afternoon light. This is one of those spots that in looking back I have shot sessions at quite a few times, and I sort of enjoy the challenge of making every session totally unique, despite the fact that I’m looking at the same surroundings. Lindsay and Chris made this pretty easy for me – by bringing their own unique sense of style, playfulness and chemistry – which honestly is half the battle. They were up for walking wherever I led them, and no matter what spot I plopped them in, they gave me all kind of geniune adorableness and weren’t afraid to show me the awesome connection they have between the two of them.

Here are a few of my favorites from our sunny afternoon in good ol’ Philadelphia! I’m so looking forward to their wedding at Normandy Farm in 2013!

SARAH & BRIAN - ENGAGED :: DC WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/sarah-brian---engaged-dc-wedding-photography Sarah and Brian are the perfect couple residing in Old Town, Alexandria. They are hip, stylish, and love living in a small town (since they came from one) with a big downtown feel. When I met them in the heart of charming Old Town, I knew I would instantly love them. Their energy and excitement about the engagement session (and each other) was impossible to ignore as they led me to some of their favorite quaint little spots in their neighborhood – finishing at their date night spot near the river. You can just FEEL the romance pouring out of these two when you are around them. Probably why Northern Virginia Magazine chose them as the “Proposal of the Month” . No mystery there! What a fabulous story, no?!! (Warning: Prepare with Kleenex. Tears alert).

So it is with great pleasure that I am able to share some images from the romantic walk we shared through Old Town. I have nothing but happiness in my heart for this couple – it’s lovers with a story like this that truly make you believe in fairytales. Congrats Sarah & Brian!

AMIE & CHRIS - ENGAGED :: MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/amie-chris---engaged-maryland-wedding-photography

Amie & Chris really blew me away during their engagement session. Generally speaking, I expect a fair amount of “warming up” time when we get to our locations and start actually photographing. It’s hard to be in front of the camera! Especially when someone is asking you to open up and share a chemistry publicly that exists privately between you and the one you love. There are a few tricks I have up my sleeve to get my clients to truly “be themselves” on camera, but honestly, Amie & Chris didn’t need even one of them. From the second we arrived they were just so visibly  comfortable with each other and open to keeping everything simple and all about the really wonderful, romantic vibe between them. Their energy didn’t even cool off when I asked them to wade into the frigid creek that we came across while strolling through Jerusalum Mill. That just revealed an even more fabulous sense of adventure between them! Like I said, they were all about each other. It was pretty awesome. They brought their own brand of fun and ideas that really made this session a collection of images that were  full of tenderness, playfulness and romance!

Here are some of my favorites from our day in the fields. I can’t wait to see these two tie the knot next year in Chesapeake City!

BECKY & LOU - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/becky-lou---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography When Becky called me about her wedding at Grace Kelly’s Mansion in Glen Mills, I was instantly intrigued. A bride of mine had gotten ready at this location a few years ago and I was so excited to visit this venue once more. It is, as Grace was, so exquisite. But, honestly, Becky gave the Princess Grace a run for her money on her wedding day with her infectious smile and beauty – so classic and enchanting. There was something very “Marilyn Monroe” about her, you couldn’t deny it in her presence. And Lou couldn’t have been more excited to catch a glimpse of his bride coming down the staircase – he was beaming like no other. I felt the chemistry between these two minutes into our engagement session last year and I couldn’t wait to see them tie the knot.

Add to that the charming and rustic atmosphere that Sweetwater Farms has to offer, and it was nothing short of perfection. I’m so pleased to share some of the enchantment with you from their gorgeous fall wedding!

NICOLE & TONY - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/nicole-tony---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography Nicole and Tony were amazing sports during our Cape May engagement session last January when it was so bitterly cold that our eyes were nearly frozen shut! And on their wedding day in September, they got to experience the opposite end of the weather spectrum on a sweltering late summer day in the city of Philadelphia when they exchanged their vows. No matter what Mother Nature has to say about it, you will find these two have built a relationship that can provide the perfect for antidote for any conditions that come their way – always providing whatever comfort is necessary. They are kind, calm and loving – both with each other and with others. Their elegant ceremony and reception at Cescaphe didn’t disappoint – and the many family members who had traveled from Italy to be a part of their day provided a fabulous layer of excitement, love and authentic culture to the event!

Here are some highlights from their gorgeous day of nuptials!

JOAN & BRAD - ENGAGED :: DC WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/joan-brad---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography

There are a lot of words I could use to describe my afternoon with Joan & Brad in downtown D.C. But if I had to choose one, it would probably be “Badass”. Because that is exactly what they are. Polished yet full of unexpected sass, this kick-butt couple wowed me from the moment we said “Hello!”.

Pulling up to meet me in a sleek SUV fully equipped with a driver and refreshments, I knew it was going to be an afternoon like no other. We cruised from monument to monument in style with little care as to how long it would take us to get there. With their extreme awesomeness in tow, Joan & Brad gave me a chance to approach some of the most tourist-heavy locations I’ve ever encountered and attempt to create the feeling that they stood completely isolated amongst one the most crowded and overrun spots I’ve ever photographed. It was FABULOUS. We had even debated cancelling the session due to the looming forecast of Thunderstorms, but as you can plainly see, the storms knew better than to mess with us. I’ll repeat: Badass.

So with their perfect balance of cool blue steel and genuine warm-blooded passion, these two definitely brought it in a way that knocked me off my feet. Suffice it to say, it’s going to be one killer wedding in September.

ALLISON & CHRIS - MARRIED :: DESTINATION POCONOS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/allison-chris---married-destination-poconos-wedding-photography

Allison and Chris got married at Skytop Lodge on a windy day in September. If being on a mountaintop wasn’t inspiring enough, the excited buzz throughout the halls from the guests and wedding party made for a very anticipated affair. The skies were sunny, the wind was crisp and love was in the air! There’s always something very electrifying about getting married in a “destination” locale where it feels like the entire landscape is filled with familiar faces and where your guests get to turn a wedding into a get-away! The skies were sunny, the wind was crisp and love was in the air! Allison and Chris had no problem making their affection public when we got together in Dewey Beach for their engagement session, so I knew the emotion would be flowing on their wedding day. With the castle-like feel of the lodge, Allison and Chris were like royalty, surrounded by love and joyfulness. I was happy to be a part of their day – Congrats to this wonderful couple!

CHRISTA & ROB - MARRIED :: MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/christa-rob---married-md-eastern-shore-wedding-photography

One day in August, a huge monsoon swept through the Delaware and Maryland Shores. It dropped a terrifying number of inches of rain on the coastal areas and  put a damper on a lot of people’s plans. But Chris and Rob? They couldn’t have cared less. Sure, the gorgeous outdoor ceremony they’d planned along the marsh and golf courses in beautiful Bishopville, MD was getting moved indoors and all the looming clouds were making guests and passersby look on with concern. But, the truth was no crazy storm could ruin this parade for them. Chris and Rob beamed the entire day – knowing the real reason this day was so special. I love a couple who is able to keep sight of what’s important amidst all the chaos and unexpected twists. Because that is truly what life together is all about.

Shortly after the ceremony, the rain subsided for a few, brief minutes. Watching the windows closely, I knew it was our chance. Chris and Rob responded immediately and went with the flow, allowing the stormy skies to create a dramatic backdrop for the very short time we had outside. Later in the evening, just before the end of the night, I watched the as the pouring rain became a light mist. I asked Chris & Rob to trust me, and I led them outside with an umbrella, giving them a little direction and knowing full well we would have a minute or less to make a shot. And less than a minute was indeed all we had before the thunder cracked and the buckets of rain came down once more. But, in the end, 30 seconds was all we needed in the rain, with an adventurous couple in love and a big, black umbrella.

I have to give so much credit to this wonderful couple for being a literal calm in the storm. Their wedding day may not have been what they’d planned, but I do believe it was everything they’d always dreamed.

Congrats to Chris & Rob – and may your adventurous spirits be your beacon of light on every stormy night you share!

MEGHAN & TJ - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/meghan-tj---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography

When we arrived at the Penn Oaks Golf Club on the morning of Meghan and Tj’s wedding it was not looking like sunshine was in store for this couple. Thunderstorms rolled in one after the other and we all sat nervously in the boudoir praying for the best. The outdoor ceremony on the green wasn’t going to be nearly as charming if it had to move indoors. Yet just like that – as soon as it came time for the bride to take her stride down the aisle – the sun came out, drying the path at her feet and warming the hearts of everyone who watched her approach TJ, heartstruck by her beauty. I LOVE it when that happens. As if Mother Nature has it all worked out and intentionally adds suspense to a day already filled with unmatched anticipation.

That wasn’t the only pleasant surprise in store. Halfway through the reception, the MUMMERS arrived. That’s right, the Mummers. And I’m pretty sure that’s all I have to say to let you know what kind of awesome party it became.

Meghan and TJ are sweet, kind, tender and genuine. I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing them at their dear friend’s wedding last year and and I fell instantly in love with them myself. I’m so happy this wedding was everything they dreamed of – they deserve a marriage full of happiness and a lifetime full of surprises. Congrats to Meghan & TJ!

KANZA & SALMAN - MARRIED :: DC MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/kanza-salman---married-dc-maryland-wedding-photography

I love photographing weddings. I really, really do. I love the emotion, the chemistry between the couples, the outpouring of love, the fashion – oh my word, the FASHION – and the amazing unpredictability of each wedding day. But when I was asked to photograph Kanza & Salman’s 2 day Pakistani wedding ceremony, words could not do justice my excitement. There is absolutely nothing boring about photographing western weddings – they are fabulous, full of style and heart and I love my clients to pieces. But to witness this kind of cultural amazement – the stark contrast to the weddings I normally photograph – was beyond moving. As a photographer, I couldn’t get enough of the bold color, the drama, the beauty and detail. I hope you enjoy these images as much I enjoyed creating them, and now sharing them.

Kanza and Salman are sweet, kind, gentle and calm. Their spirit was so soft and welcoming and their entourage of family and friends were among the most spirited I’ve ever experienced. The laugher and tears, the dancing and rejoicing that occurred was tremendous. I am so very honored to have been part of their celebration.

I wish a heart full of happiness to both Kanza & Salman and hope they have as much joy in their marriage as was present on their celebration days!

Julie & Bobby got married on a bright, beautiful day on the Delaware Coast in the infamous town of Dewey Beach. A destination for fun & youthful crowds (also the town where I married my husband!), this beach is truly full of life and ready to party! The ocean blew a refreshing breeze over the guests that gathered and kept us cool as we stood in the sand with the sunshine upon us. It’s always a good sign when Mother Nature sends her blessing in the form of blue skies! And she sure did that with all her glory for this super happy couple!

Congrats to Julie & Bobby! May you enjoy many more days of sunshine and clear skies!

STACEY & MICAH - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/stacey-micah---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography It was a blistering hot day in Bartram’s Garden the afternoon that we gathered for Stacey & Micah to self-unite. But despite the sweltering heat, the wedding was every bit as elegant as they hoped it would be. With inspiring details abound, their precocious daughter at their sides and the gardens blooming with late spring beauty, this couple exchanged their vows with tears, laughter and triumph. The spiritual connection between Stacey, Micah & their family and friends was overwhelming. The calm spirit of the ceremony was followed by joyful enthusiasm at the reception – which was decorated flawlessly with chic details from the table tops to the, turntables to the gift boxes.

Beginning at the Morris House, Stacey revealed her gown and my jaw promptly hit the floor. There simply weren’t words. She wore that blush gown like a princess – as her daughter Orianna so aptly put it. And the rest of the day was equally as gorgeous from the first detail to the last.

Congrats to Stacey & Micah – may you enjoy a hundred years of happiness!

STEFANIE & PAT - MARRIED:: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/stefanie-pat---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography After ten years together, Stefanie & Pat tied the knot on a day blessed with sunshine and weather perfection at the Knowlton Mansion in Philadelphia. I’ve never witnessed such calm elegance on a wedding day. I said it before when I spoke about their engagement session several weeks back – Stefanie & Pat have already mastered the art of finding balance between comfort & passion – just as two people who’ve been married for ages and have let life’s surprises strengthen their bond, come what may. They have an adorable and precocious son (who by the way, melted my heart as he walked down the aisle holding a sign alerting the onlookers to his beautiful mommy who followed gracefully behind) and have already built an amazing family between them. I have no doubt these two are headed for happily ever after.

I’m so thrilled to have been a part of this couple’s uniting and to have witnessed the outpouring of love not only between the two of them, but between their little family unit and the extended family and friends that surrounded them on this most lovely of days! Congrats to Stefanie & Pat – I wish them a lifetime of happiness together!

CAITLIN & JUSTIN - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/caitlin-justin---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography Caitlin & Justin are just one of those couples that are simply lovely. I realize that makes it all sound so…well…simple – but the truth is – the best things in life truly are. When we met for their engagement session last year, I was just smitten – both with Justin’s funny little charm and Caitlin’s delicate and kind nature. Together, they bring out the best in each other. And their wedding was just as exquisite as their bond! I absolutely loved every second of it!

As spring often does, it delivered overcast skies that threatened rain the whole day long. But, that didn’t bother us at all -  the soft, diffused window light perfectly graced Caitlin’s porcelain skin in her bedroom as she slipped into her show-stopping gown and like a blessing, the sky held back the raindrops until well after we’d finished our travels from the church to Valenzano Winery. Then, as the drizzle fell, it seemed to only add to the romance of the celebration, so no one really minded.

Congrats to Caitlin & Justin on their elegant and memorable wedding!

CAROLYN & PARKS - MARRIED :: MARYLAND ANNAPOLIS BAY AREA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/carolyn-parks---married-maryland-annapolis-bay-area-wedding-photography

Carolyn & Parks got married on the exclusive Gibson Island’s utopian grounds. A private and members-only community, Carolyn and Parks were excited to be one of the select few couples who got to take advantage marrying at St. Christopher’s Chapel in this traditional waterfront environment. While the forecast threatened heavy thunderstorms all day long, the sun proved to have other plans! We got more than our share of warm beams – and never saw a raindrop – throughout the entire wedding day – proving that Mother Nature truly has a heart of gold.

My little secret? Some of my favorite shots from this wedding are the ones where I snuck a peek of Carolyn & Parks practicing their dance routine behind the school before the reception began (you will know when you see them!). There is something so tender and wonderful about the glances that happen between two people in love when they really believe no one is looking.

Congrats to my first spring couple this year on tying the knot – a fabulous way to kick off2012!

ALLISON & KEVIN - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/allison-kevin---married-ph Allison and Kevin got married outside on the day that was undoubtedly considered the peak of the turning of the fall foliage in Philadelphia. And while the forecast the day before projected sunshine and mild temperatures, what they got unexpectedly was chilly and overcast. That didn’t matter. It only served to saturate those amazing colors and add a little drama to the scene. And Allison absolutely loved the cool weather – since she had her love to keep her warm. Decidedly, it was the quintessential fall wedding.

But what warmed our hearts even beyond the amazing love that bound Allison and Kevin together was the overwhelmingly strong bond between Allison and her bridesmaids, the heart-stopping affection that beamed (sometimes in the form of tears) from Allison’s mother, the sheer pride worn by the Father of the Bride and the amazingly warm welcome extended from the groom’s parents to embrace their new daughter. The family and friends (no matter how “extended”) that came to celebrate with this couple were clearly a closely tied group that shared the same enthusiasm as Allison and Kevin for their nuptials.

So it is my absolute pleasure to share with you a sneak preview of their day at the Old York Road Country Club where they said “I do”. Congrats to the newlyweds Allison & Kevin!

ABBY & SETH - MARRIED :: DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY BEACH HAVEN LBI https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/abby-seth---married-destination-wedding-photography-beach-haven-lbi Abby & Seth…high school sweethearts, adorably affectionate, and finally after a decade of romance, are husband and wife. There are about a million precious details that I want to mention about this wedding: the fact that the venue they chose, The Gables, was so perfectly quaint and romantic and set the perfect stage for Abby’s vintage styled wedding, the fact that she wore jewels and hairpieces of her grandmother’s (truly vintage, old and borrowed), the fact that Abby’s shoes were the same ones she wore to Prom as Seth’s date… I could go on. It was truly a storybook love and a wedding to follow suit. Everything was, well, perfect. Just as it should be – for two people so perfectly in love.

And as the wind howled on the beach, and the thick cloud cover moved in, Abby and Seth forgot about the chilly weather and savored every second – both with laughs and tears under the Chuppah adorned with Abby’s great-grandmother’s tablecloth – without a care for the wild gusts that rolled in from the sea.

From beginning to end, this wedding was full of love, energy, beauty and timeless style. And while those words could also be used to describe Abby and Seth together, I think it better to describe them as a perfect Match.

PHYLLIS & BRENDAN - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/phyllis-brendan---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography

On a warm, overcast day in September, we made our way to the stunning Phoenixville Foundry to capture Phyllis and Brendan on their wedding day. While we still hoped for sunshine, we considered ourselves blessed that the forecast of looming rain never came to fruition – the elegant outdoor setting Phyllis and Brendan had designed for the ceremony was too charming to move indoors – and we used the warm, creamy light just before the sunset to lock in frame the soft and romantic love that just emanates from this tender couple. I remarked upon it when I shot their engagement session earlier this year – Phyllis and Brendan’s sweet emotion for one other is contagious. I love being in their presence and seeing it come alive.

Here are some shots from their day. Congrats Phyllis & Brendan – may the warmth of your love always burn bright and inspire many in the way you have both inspired me!

DANIELLE & TIM - MARRIED :: DELAWARE REHOBOTH DEWEY BEACH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/danielle-tim---married-delaware-rehoboth-dewey-beach-wedding-photography

For a wedding on the beach, Danielle and Tim probably couldn’t have asked for more. The sun was high in the sky, not a cloud stood in sight and the balmy, seashore breeze bathed us all in that perfect, salty aroma that is unmistakably the mark of summer. Everything was exactly as it should be. And Danielle was just about as zen a bride as I’ve ever seen – she was calm, composed and had not one jitter about making that walk down the aisle to meet her very best friend and begin a new chapter that they had both awaited for so long.

We began at the Boardwalk Plaza hotel, the pinkest and most fabulous icon on the Rehoboth boardwalk, filled to the brim with vintage Victorian style. Both quaint and regal at the same time, this location was a perfect match for the elegant and simple beauty that describes Danielle. From there, we wandered toward the water at Lake Gerar Park to meet up with Tim for their  ”first look” and once they laid eyes on each other and the day’s reality set in, it was time. To. Party.

So, with the sunshine on our backs, we traveled eagerly to the Indian River Life Saving Station, a gorgeous stretch of Delaware State Park beach, and watched as two soul mates exchanged their vows barefoot in the sand. Has there ever been anything so romantic?

Danielle & Tim, a couple I have loved getting to know, shared both strikingly similar pasts and hopeful futures with, I wish for you that your undeniably inspiring bond continues to grow each day as strong as the sun shone on the two of you when you said “I do”.

AMANDA & BRADY - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/amanda-brady---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography

The ominous skies threatened rain on the day that Amanda & Brady met at the altar at the magnificent Bryn Athyn Cathedral on their wedding day. The storm clouds hung heavily over us, creating a regal, romantic, dramatic backdrop – but inside the cathedral, it was light-hearted, giggly, excited and sunny in the hearts of everyone anticipating their marriage. The weather didn’t matter – Amanda and Brady are so adorably in love it could have been hailing igloos on this afternoon in Mid-May and they probably wouldn’t have even noticed, so long as they were in each other’s arms. Any jitters that Amanda may have had about the rain or how the day’s events would take shape simply melted away the instant Brady appeared when they had their “first look”, and after that moment it was nothing but rainbows as far as the eye could see. There is just something amazingly contagious about how playful and perfect their love is. I absolutely love being able to capture it. Here are just a few of my favorite shots that show the day unfolding.

Amanda & Brady, your wedding was as full of life as is your amazing love for each other – I wish you a lifetime of happiness together!

JOANNE & LES - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA RITZ CARLTON WEDDINGS :: WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/joanne-les---married-philadelphia-ritz-carlton-weddings-wedding-photographer Joanne & Les were so much fun at theirengagement session at Swarthmore College(despite the humidity & overcast skies) and from that day forward I knew their winter wedding was going to be gorgeous and full of happiness! And it did not disappoint. Joanne & Les are an incredibly laid back and generous couple and just as such couples deserve, they got not only a mild November day for their wedding but also were surrounded by equally as wonderful people to celebrate their vows. Well-planned and exquisite, their ceremony and reception (at the gorgeous Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia) was both beautiful and moving to photograph. I’m so thrilled to share this collection of images highlighting their day – congrats to Joanne & Les on their nuptials!

KILEY & TIM - MARRIED :: MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/1/kiley-tim---married-maryland-eastern-shore-wedding-photography

I never had the pleasure of meeting Kiley & Tim before their big day, but after just a brief conversation with Kiley on the phone, I knew I would love her. Her kindness, excitement and sincertiy are unmistakable – and she was such a RIOT!  She was completely down to Earth and beside herself with excitement for her wedding day. Besides that, she said the phrase “horse-drawn carriage” so, I was sold. When I met her for the first time on the wedding day, I never expected her happiness to be so infectious! But it was – the entire day was full of laughter and great character. I could see instantly why Tim was so anxious to snatch her up!

So, on a beautiful fall day on the Eastern Shore, Kiley and Tim took the leap surrounded by love and support everywhere among their friends and family. And here are a few of my favorite moments from the day. Congrats Kiley & Tim!

LAUREN & BRIAN - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/1/lauren-brian---married-philadelphia-wedding-photography

I had an instant connection with Lauren when we spoke on the phone about her wedding a year prior. Though we never met before her wedding day, our many conversations leading up to it had us feeling like old friends. When I met her at her bridal suite, my gut was proven 100% right – she was such a delight – and we had an instant bond Her gorgeous wedding did not disappoint, either. Held at the James John Audubon Center, her quintessential fall wedding was adorned with stylish details, handmade decor and although Lauren and her mother had pretty much designed everything themselves, felt like an highly orchestrated event that could only have been handled by a pro. To say I was impressed would have been an understatement.

I referred to this wedding (and Lauren herself) as Coco Chanel meets Anthropologie – with a little bit of Jackie O thrown in for good measure. There was a true, Parisian old-world feel paired impeccably with the modern shabby-chic of today. Lauren carried her mother’s wedding purse, wore her grandmother’s earrings and wrapped her jewelry in a handkerchief  that had been passed down for nearly a century. I was indeed enchanted by the little things, but when I saw the amazing tenderness that existed between Lauren and Brian from the instant they revealed themselves during their first look – I was truly blown away by the entire affair.

So, it is with much excitement that I share some of the elegance from their day in imagery here – many congrats to Lauren & Brian on their fabulous wedding and an inspiring day!

MEGHAN & TJ - MARRIED :: PHILADELPHIA COUNTRY CLUB WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/meghan When we arrived at the Penn Oaks Golf Clubon the morning of Meghan and Tj’s wedding it was not looking like sunshine was in store for this couple.

Halfway through the reception, the MUMMERSarrived. That’s right, the Mummers. And I’m pretty sure that’s all I have to say to let you know what kind of awesome party it became.

Meghan and TJ are sweet, kind, tender and genuine. I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing them at their dear friend’swedding last year and and I fell instantly in love with them myself. I’m so happy this wedding was everything they dreamed of – they deserve a marriage full of happiness and a lifetime full of surprises. Congrats to Meghan & TJ!

AMY & JACK - ENGAGED :: DC MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2012/4/amy-jack---engaged-dc-maryland-wedding-photography They live and work on Capitol Hill – where they share more than just a passion for politics. Amy & Jack – a truly awesome pair that seriously have it all: they love their jobs, they live in the most desirable section of downtown D.C., they are completely down-to-Earth and are totally in love. And? They didn’t even flinch when I asked if they would meet me on the Mall at sunrise. In fact, they were ecstatic. I feel so lucky to have been able to explore our Nation’s Capital with this amazing couple – who shared so much of it’s rich history with me as we toured each popular spot. As a native of this city, I can’t believe how much I learned from them! So since they both share such a deep passion for our great Nation, there was no place better to capture their engagement than downtown in the heart of the city – where their romance has touched every corner.  They are both such genuine people – and their love for each other is like an out-pouring that you can’t escape. I loved every second of it. Then, add Finn McCool (the seriously precious pooch that wears the name of the bar where Amy & Jack met) and instantly they are a happy family – ready to take on the world!

STEFANIE & PAT - ENGAGED :: DELAWARE REHOBOTH BEACH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2012/4/stefanie-pat---engaged-delaware-rehoboth-beach-wedding-photography

Stefanie & Pat had their hearts set on a springtime beach engagement session  – and being a few miles adjacent to one, I did not have any objections. So, on a mild Sunday they happily road-tripped to my neck of the woods for a fun and laid-back session by the water. We hit the beach, the docks, the marsh and the pier until the sun was almost down. Stefanie and Pat have been together for 10 years – and it shows. They are so happy and comfortable with one another that saying “I do” will come as naturally to them as exhaling that wonderful sigh of joy I saw both of them do on several occasions during our afternoon together. Which makes me all the more excited for their wedding – that is now only a few weeks away!

So with their nuptials upon us, there’s no time like the present to share some images from our day at the shore. Stefanie & Pat – I can’t wait to see you both at the alter in May!

JENNIFER & MIKE - MARRIED :: DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY JAMAICA https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2011/9/jennifer-mike---married-destination-wedding-photography-jamaica

As I sit here and try to write an intro to this wedding I am completely and totally stumped. Not because there aren’t a million things I want to say, but because I just have no idea where to begin. This wedding closes one amazing chapter in the book of my relationship with these wonderful clients – one chapter in a book that I hope continues for years to come! I got to capture them as they expected their son, Jake. And I’ve been lucky to capture the three of them as a family as Jake has begun to grow into a little man over the course of his first year. And now, I get to unveil these images from one of the most touching weddings I’ve been witness to. Knowing Jen and Mike and what they have had to overcome to get to this point – the point where they are officially husband and wife – and see them move forward as the incredibly happy family that they are is…well, it’s an honor. Such an honor that as Jen began to walk down the aisle, I couldn’t stop myself from tearing up. Yup, that’s right. I shot this wedding with tears in my eyes. An experience I’ll never forget.

This intimate island wedding – that felt more like the perfect romantic elopement – could not have been more ideally suited for Mike and Jen. With their closest friends beside them, they truly made this union just about the two of them, the love they share and the son they treasure. Even though Jake wasn’t there in person, Jen and Mike both carried this photo of him – Jen in her bouquet and Mike in the pocket nearest his heart. There was no question that he was feeling the love that day back in the states while his mommy and daddy tied the knot on the beautiful Carribbean blue sea.

So without further ado, here are some of my favorite images that begin to tell the love story of Jen and Mike on their perfect Jamaican wedding.

ALLISON & CHRIS - ENGAGED :: DELAWARE DEWEY BEACH WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY https://jennawalcottphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2011/8/allison-chris---engaged-delaware-dewey-beach-wedding-photography Allison & Chris love the beach. Perhaps that’s an understatement. They LOVE the beach. And while Allison spent her summers in Beach Haven, Chris is a summer native in Dewey Beach, DE. Right in my neck of the woods. So, we went for it – a session that spanned the ports on the canal and the hayfields in Lewes, to the pier in Chris’s backyard, to finally the sandy shores of Dewey. Starting at Allison and Chris’s favorite spot, Irish Eyes, we kicked off the session with a beverage and hopped right to it, chasing the beautiful light. Allison and Chris were completely down to Earth and playful, but not too playful to disregard the sincere tenderness between them. Just putting them together and letting them interact produced a record number of smiles and intimate exchanges – a perfect example of what happens when two people in love are able to put down their guard in front of a camera and just be themselves. That’s right, magic happens.

So now I will be waiting impatiently for the chance to photograph them again when they say “I do” in the gorgeous Poconos next year. Oh, the woes of a happy photographer! Congrats to Allison & Chris for rocking the beach session!
